Dog kennel: new service at Arribes del Duero campsite
You would never leave your dog behind when you go on vacation, but there are plans that you don’t want to miss when he can’t accompany you. In our campsite we are aware of this and from now on we are going to make that not a problem. To do this, we offer our customers a new dog daycare service, where your pet will be well cared for, accompanied and in a safe space.
We like animals
You will see for yourself when you arrive at the campsite. We are pet-friendly, friends of animals. Here we live with our horses, sheep, chickens, ducks, dogs and cats. And we do it in harmony. It will not be rare that while you are sunbathing on your plot our Caldo hen comes to peck around you; or when you are setting up your caravan a curious cat approaches you. They are free and happy and in return they give us what they do best. The horse Niño and the mare Sua make sure the grass doesn’t grow too much and Rumbo, the ram, helps them. Anuk, our little dog, warns us when new customers arrive; the cats keep the field mice and moles at bay; and of course, we don’t forget that the chickens lay delicious eggs for us every day.
We are pet-friendly
With this presentation you will understand that your dog also has its space here and we give you facilities so that you can enjoy your vacations together. First of all, something that our customers especially emphasize: your dog’s stay at the campsite is free. But not only that, we take into account their welfare and your comfort.
A bowl of fresh water is available at the reception desk on hot days to welcome you. Pets are allowed access to all the campsite facilities if they are leashed (with the exception of the pool area, the tent, the toilets and the first aid kit, these restrictions do not apply to service dogs). So, with their need to run and play in mind, we have created a dog park with elements for practicing agility.
dog park
We have arranged a recreation area for dogs and their humans, where you will find bars and jumping rings, see-saw, zig-zagging elements… Next to the wooden bench we try to always have a lot of sticks available for the furry ones so they can play with you. In addition to a bathtub to refresh them or give them a good bath if they have decided that wallowing in the mud was a good idea…

In this area of Camping Arribes del Duero dogs can be free to run and exercise. We have made the elements in recycled wood because we like to give a new life to materials and reuse what we have at our disposal. We are sure they will like it.

The dog day care center
This new service offered by Camping Arribes del Duero is intended for those guests who need to leave their dog cared for a few hours, in clean and well-kept facilities that offer security and protection.
Why might I need a dog day care service?
There are plans in our environment that for various reasons are not suitable to take your animal. This is the case, for example, of the Camino de Hierro. This hiking route does not allow access to pets because of the danger involved, so leaving it in our nursery is the best option. Another similar case may be the boat ride on the Douro, as there are cruise companies that do not allow access to animals. All this is no longer a problem with our new dog daycare service!

What does this dog day care service consist of?
This is an hourly daycare service for dogs. It is not a hotel, the animals cannot stay overnight in our facilities. First of all you must reserve a place in advance, as these are limited. You will have to fill in the entry form and we will arrange the day and time you are going to leave your dog with us.
It is mandatory and very important that the animal is correctly identified with a microchip, has its vaccinations up to date and is not sick.
During his stay with us we will take him for walks around the campsite and play with him, always tied up and in an enclosed area. He will always have fresh water at his disposal as well as the food you consider appropriate.

What are the daycare facilities like?
The dog kennel is located at one end of the campsite, away from the camping area. At present we have three large covered kennels with their corresponding shelter, blankets and feeding troughs.

Rates
You can check the updated price of the dog daycare service on the Rates page. But it is approximately 10 € for the first 6 hours. From the sixth hour onwards you will pay 0,50 €/hour (without fractions).
And if I am not staying at the kennel, can I leave my dog at the day care center?
Of course! As long as there are places available you can access this service. Call us and reserve in advance. There are neighbors in the area who leave their pets in our care when they have a medical appointment or need to do business in the city.

Tips for leaving my dog at day care center
When you leave him/her at the daycare, you and your puppy are going to miss each other, it is normal. But we will do our best to make this separation anxiety, which may arise in some cases on both sides, disappear soon.
Animals find it helpful to have an item of clothing, a blanket or a favorite toy nearby. For example, it helped a young border collie when her human left her bike next to the kennel. This way, the puppy knew that he was coming back to take her for a bike ride. We also occasionally took our dog Anuk to keep our young pupils company.
We provide them with dry food, but it is always better not to change their diet and to leave them a little bit of their usual food. Our furry guests like us to play with them in the dog park and give them tasty little treats. The little bodeguera Lutxi learned to sit and lie down at our command while she was with us and her humans were hiking the Camino de Hierro.
During their stay at the daycare we will send you photos or videos of your pet so that you can see that they are perfectly cared for and happy. We know that seeing them gives you peace of mind and you will enjoy the excursion more.
We invite you to read the section corresponding to the entry of animals in the campsite in our internal regulations to have more information about it.
And although we all know that your dog has had a good time and has stayed in a comfortable place, the moment of reunion is always a very funny and emotional party of jumping, barking and licking.
