The arribes must not only be seen, they must be experienced.

The environment of Camping Arribes del Duero will not leave you indifferent, as it is located within the Arribes del Duero Natural Park. Located in Lumbrales, in the extreme west of the province of Salamanca and a few kilometers from the border with Portugal. We offer you the opportunity to discover landscapes, heritage, culture and traditions shared by two countries.

Between Salamanca and Zamora, along the border with Portugal, emerges a unique natural treasure: the Arribes del Duero region. Here, the Douro River is transformed into a spectacle of deep canyons that stretch for almost a hundred kilometers, creating one of the most impressive landscapes of the Iberian Peninsula. Discover the wild beauty of its granite formations and the abundant wildlife that inhabits this privileged corner of nature.

Hiking route

Camino de Hierro

El Camino de Hierro invites you to explore a pedestrian path that runs along an old railway line, now closed to traffic and rehabilitated for the enjoyment of all. This route combines the majesty of 19th century civil engineering with breathtaking natural landscapes.

Embark on this adventure to experience the thrill of crossing bridges over vertiginous gorges, enter tunnels carved into the living rock and contemplate the immensity of landscapes that are part of a unique ecosystem of its kind.

DUERO RIVER CRUISES

Let us enter an ecosystem where the hand of man has shaped the landscape with olive groves, almond trees, orange trees and vineyards. Along the Duero valley, we find a diverse community of birds, such as the Black Stork, the Golden Eagle, the Griffon Vulture, the Egyptian Vulture and the Bonelli’s Eagle, which choose this habitat for its amplitude and altitude. These places are full of magic and beauty.

The Pozo de los Humos is, without a doubt, one of the most spectacular jewels of the Arribes del Duero Natural Park. This impressive waterfall, formed by the river Uces, is the perfect place for nature lovers, photography and hiking.

Vetón territory

During the Vettonian period (V-I centuries B.C.), the beginning of the settlement of Las Merchanas, one of the largest documented settlements in the province of Salamanca, is recorded. Located in a meander of the river Camaces, you can reach it in a beautiful walk from the campsite. This castro is part of the Vetón Territory in which you will find others, such as Saldeana or Yecla la Vieja.

World Heritage

Siega Verde site

Discover a cave site on the banks of the Águeda River, in the region of Campo de Argañán, near the border with Portugal. With engravings dating back 20,000 years, declared a World Heritage Site since 2010, it offers a unique experience and is associated with the Côa Engravings in Portugal, also a World Heritage Site.

Astronomical observation

We are privileged to be in a place without light pollution. With a night sky of great quality, which gives us images of the moon as it is captured through a telescope from the campsite.

Walk along beautiful trails surrounded by oaks, holm oaks or almond trees. Take in breathtaking landscapes and listen to your footsteps. We recommend spring and autumn to enjoy with all your senses.

GR-14

The GR-14 long-distance route, or Senda del Duero, crosses Castilla y León from the Urbión mountain range in Soria to the Vega Terrón dock in Salamanca. The last 10 stages are within our province, offering panoramic views among vineyards, olive groves and majestic dams that contain the Duero River.

You can enjoy the majesty of the Duero canyons from the viewpoints. The views they offer will not leave you indifferent. Test your vertigo in the spectacular Mirador del Fraile.

The Arribes del Duero Natural Park, due to its rich fauna, has been declared a ZEPA (Special Protection Area for Birds). Bring your binoculars and watch species that find their habitat here as the elusive black stork, the emblematic Egyptian vulture or Bonelli's eagle.
