We have exciting news to share with you: The Iron Road in the Arribes del Duero Natural Park has been awarded ‘Best Active Tourism Product’ at the prestigious XXIX Active Tourism Awards at FITUR 2024!

The Iron Road runs along a 17 km stretch of the La Fuente de San Esteban-Barca d’Alva railway line, which has been closed to traffic and upgraded for tourism. This iconic trail offers visitors the opportunity to explore a unique engineering feat, passing through twenty tunnels and crossing ten impressive bridges.
Since opening to the public in 2021, the Iron Trail has welcomed more than 50,000 visitors. It is a place where the beauty of the landscape meets the history and architecture, creating an unforgettable experience for all who venture through it.
Located in the northwest of the province of Salamanca, this trail has been recognized for its particularity and environmental and architectural quality. The XXIX Active Tourism Awards organized by FITUR highlight high quality tourism products that promote experiences aligned with sustainability and responsible tourism with nature.
